Ross McFarland

National Practice Leader, Contaminated Land Services, Principal Scientist

Ross joined ENSR in 2005 as National Practice Leader for Contaminated Land.  He is a registered site auditor with more than 25 years local, national and international experience in environmental management, with the last decade or more focused on risk-based contaminated sites assessment and remediation.  He has specific expertise in remediation of gasworks sites.

Ross has also been integral in developing environmental guidelines for the NSWEPA for the management of contaminated sites, including guidelines for Consultant Reporting and guidelines for Field Quality Assurance.  He has also been involved in the development of key Australian legislation (such as the Contaminated Land Management Act, in NSW) and national guidelines such as the 1992 ANZECC/NHMRC Guidelines for the Assessment and Management of Contaminated Sites and the 1999 NEPM for Contaminated Sites Assessment. 

Ross is currently an active member for the CERAR Board and CRC CARE Policy Advisory Committee.  He is well known for his ability to achieve practical and sustainable outcomes for complex contaminated land issues.
